Scott has almost fully recovered from his eye surgery. Waiting for an operating room meant he missed out on over 30 hours of feeds, and it took a couple of days to get him back to his “pre-surgery” milk intake. He is now opening his eyes, but they still look a little swollen and sore. [...]

It’s been a long few days. Over the weekend, Scott had increased difficulty breathing when some milk got into his lungs. Having the milk in his lungs greatly increases his risk of getting an infection. He was watched very closely, given antibiotics again, and had a few x-rays taken. Scott has had a good week all around, and as I write this update, is almost exactly 8 weeks old. He was weighed at 1395 grams today, and has lost almost all of the “water weight” picked up in the last few weeks. He is looking better every day, and comes out of his incubator [...]

Today was a really good day for Scott. For the first time in over a month, he got to go on a field trip outside of the incubator. Between incubator changes, Scott was able to cuddle with Mom. He stayed there, completely happy and calm for almost three hours, before getting back into a new [...]

Yesterday morning, the doctors decided to stop the paralysis medication all together. Scott has surpassed 4 pounds, and was getting too puffy for his own good. After his last dose, it took his about 4 hours to wake up and start moving his hands and feet. After 10-12 hours he was fully awake, looking around [...]

Scott is breathing well, but is still being paralyzed to prevent him from fighting his ventilator. The drug that keeps him paralyzed also causes him to retain water. I have no idea how a month has passed, but apparently it has. Scott is progressing well. The doctors have kept him paralyzed for the last few days, as he continues to fight his respirator.
