Scott Breathing on His Own
This is a video of Scott’s first breaths after 3 months of intubation. After his tube was removed, he gets fitted for a bubble CPAP machine. Although the CPAP looks like more of a big deal than his breathing tube (they called him the “space man”), it’s actually much less invasive. Its purpose is to raise the air pressure in the lungs slightly, making it easier to inhale.
